As a part of College day celebrations MANDARA 2010, on 24th April 2010 , I S T E Chapter has organized a special lecture and Interactive session on QUALITY IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION with Dr. N R Shetty President ISTE New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion Dr. N R Shetty said that, Quality in technical education could be brought about only when teachers take up research and adopt innovative and creative methods of teaching. He said, lack of research even at the undergraduate level came in the way of quality education. He also stressed the importance for teachers to undertake research, update their skills and knowledge, have access to technical journals and get their research papers published in international journals. On 21st May 2010, ISTE Chapter has celebrated National ISTE Day. On this occasion a one day seminar on “Role of Professional societies in Quality Enhancement of Technical Education” was organized. Speaking on the occasion the chief Guest Dr M. Basavaraj, Chairman ISTE Karnataka section has said that, quality in technical education should be improved in India. He said, among 75000 members of ISTE, Karnataka has 14000 members. Compared to other states quality in technical education is far better in Karnataka and Karnataka stands as role model. He expressed his desire that, Quality of technical education in India should be as equal to that in developed countries. He also said that the teachers should update their knowledge and teach innovative things to the students. On the occasion, Sri Dhandin Ramesh Asst Professor and Coordinator ISTE Chapter, has briefed to the gathering about ISTE, its objectives and activities. Dr. H Mahabaleshwar speaking on the occasion said that it was on this day in 1968 the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) was formed in India. Sri Havinal Basavaraj Chairman Governing Council of the college has honored the chief guest on the occasion. Professor A Thimmana Gouda of Mechanical Department has introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering and Sri Shivananda of MCA department has given vote of thanks.

With reference to the VTU circular (Ref No: VTU/Aca /A6/2014-15/2249) dated 17/06/2014, the nomenclature of B.E ‘Instrumentation Technology (IT) ’has been changed to B.E ‘Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering(E&IE)’ with effect from the academic year 2014-15. Further this is applicable to the students taking fresh admission from the academic year 2014-15 onwards.
